Tooheys Dry Lager

Started my birthday lager kit today, (thanks sis) should be ready around Christmas. Haven't been able to do a kit for a bit now and looking forward to this one. Roughly following the instruction and pitching the yeast when the brew is around 18-28 degrees.

Sterilising all the equipment. Half filled the bin with warm water and added 4 teaspoons of young's steriliser & cleaner. Waited 15 minutes before rinsing out.

Stood the can in hot water for about 10 minutes.

Dissolved the contents of the can and 1kg of sugar in 2 litres of hot water and added cold water up to 23 litres. About half way there.... Checked the temperature is between 18-28 degrees and slowly sprinkled the yeast over the surface, giving it a little stir.

Job done, screwed the lid on and filled the airlock half full of water and leave in a warm place to ferment for 4-7 days....

Brewing Instructions as required.

Simple Tea Wine

Simple Tea Wine No1 (Up for a bit of experimenting)

Not something I've done before or would normally do is make wine from scratch I've always brought kits, however this was recommended by Mart!. He said "it's cheap, easy and quick to make and it tastes brilliant. I quickly found a recipe on the web, (the one below) went out and brought the ingredients at lunch time and after work started my first batch of tea wine.

Welcome To My Blog

Welcome to my home brew blog, this is my first blog and the aim is to share the little knowledge i have on home brewing. I started Christmas 2010, when my partner purchased me a complete home brew kit. I made about 40 pints of lager and drunk the lot. (i'm hooked). Since then i have continued to brew beers and have tried two wine kits. I'm hoping to use this blog to review the kits i've made and enjoyed and would value any comments and recommendations.
